How to reduce blood triglycerides

Attention: despite the fact that the topic of this article is “how to reduce blood triglycerides for women and men - quickly and efficiently ”we earnestly ask you to NEVER self-medicate! Each of your steps, on the way to reducing their number, should be fully coordinated with the treating specialists (i.e. doctors)! remember, that increased rates (TG) triglycerides is not a disease, but, most often, a condition that indicates some kind of disease or abnormality. Sometimes, for women - they are one, and for men - others. That is why, the most correct way to reduce high levels of TG is to identify the root cause of their increase and the appointment of adequate treatment! Those. You need to fight not with foliage or fruits, but chop under the root!

The material presented below was prepared for educational purposes, based on the recommendations of foreign and domestic doctors. Proven in practice (repeatedly) over the past / several decades. Just in case, check out that too low triglycerides - they also do not bode well!

To reduce triglycerides, we change our lifestyle!

If you really want to recover and lower the level of TG in the blood, then be immediately ready to give up many of the "charms" of life. That is, to radically change your lifestyle: turning away from destructive habits, store "goodies" and a sedentary lifestyle. It’s possible to make an appointment with a psychologist - if you “treat your soul” with alcohol, sweets or cigarette smoke!

The "keys" to slavery of bad habits can be found in good psychologists!

Tell bad habits: hard NO!

Quitting smoking is one of the most important conditions for reducing the risks of developing many cardiovascular diseases, as well as lowering the level of triglycerides in the blood in women and men. In itself, SMOKING - not only “thickens” the blood and damages the walls of blood vessels, but also significantly reduces the ability of our body to normally control lipid metabolism (metabolism), i.e. including, - and the exchange of triacylglycerols (TAG).

In addition, by quitting “smoke”, you will not only improve your health (and save your budget), but also save those around you — close people (usually suffering from secondhand smoke).

At a minimum, for a period of triglyceride reduction, completely abandon ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES (especially sweet / fortified wines, liquor / vodka products and beer) that can very seriously “fluctuate” TG levels. After the content of triglycerides in your blood decreases to a normal level - do not drink a lot or often (i.e. higher than the WHO norm)! Otherwise, all your treatment (both time, and funds for medicines, and other nuances) - very quickly “canceled”.

An equally harmful habit, along with “nicotine” and “alcohol” (supposedly “calming” nerves and the soul) is excessive enthusiasm for computer games (social networks, news, etc.). That is, when we spend all our leisure time passively, sitting in front of the computer. "Jamming" the whole thing, pre / saturated with trans fats - shop "delicacies."

Simply put, participating in emotionally / intense computer games, we provoke additional lipid emissions into the body (including triglycerides), the main task of which is to protect our body and give it strength - to fight! Only our body - remains motionless, because our "computer struggle" is virtual! It is this fact that is one of the auxiliary reasons - an excess of triglycerides in the blood. Along with the development of any other diseases.

Become a Calorie Expert!

Most likely, since you found this material, then your main goal is to reduce triglycerides. That is why, literally from tomorrow (or better today), start to become - the real experts in the "field of calories". Because it is precisely their “excesses” that our body “converts” into triglycerides - “sources” of energy for the future / “in reserve”. What does it look like in practice?

Pay particular attention to HOW MUCH calories do you consume throughout the day? That is, when - already today or tomorrow - you go to the supermarket, then choose your “snacks” not by their beautiful and appetizing appearance, but by COMPOSITION! Be sure to look at the package: HOW MUCH CALORIES contain your “goodies” !? By the way, if you have never looked at the composition of products, you will be unpleasantly surprised by the impressive amount of various “something there” / substitutes, dyes and other “joys” for the body. And sometimes - and expired shelf life!

How to calculate your calorie rate?

Due to the fact that the calorie norm depends on the gender (male and female), age, weight and height of a person, and even on the level of his physical activity, we recommend that you use the classic Harris-Benedict formulas. Published by these scientists - separately for men and women - in 1918, and corrected by "contemporaries" in 1984.

STEP №1 We determine our coefficient of active metabolism (Amr) Its other name is the coefficient of physical activity.

  • A sedentary lifestyle ("sedentary" work / "sedentary" leisure at the computer) - 1.2,
  • Moderate activity (light physical exertion / or moderate exercise up to 3 times a week / walking up to 3 km) - 1,375,
  • Average activity (full spot exercises 3-5 times a week / walking up to 5 km) - 1.55,
  • Active people (intense physical activity / sports 6-7 times a week) - 1,725,
  • Professional athletes and people with the same load (daily) - 1.9.

STEP №2 We use calculation formulas to calculate the basal metabolic rate (BMR) That is, the optimal amount of energy (calories) necessary for the normal functioning of our body.

Calorie intake (to lower TG) in women:

BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) - (4.330 * age in years)

Calorie intake (to lower TG) in men:

BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) - (5.677 * age in years)

STEP №3 And finally, just multiply BMR on AMR! The result of which will be your daily calorie rate!

Here is a simple example:

For women by age 42 years old 165 cm, weight 60 kg, working as the chief accountant at the enterprise (that is, having both a “sedentary” profession and a “sedentary” position). Of course, not in terms of the risks of imprisonment ...

  • BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * 60) + (3,098 * 165) — (4,330 * 42) = 820,55
  • BMR * AMR = 820.55 * 1.2 = 984.66.

Total, our chief accountant (a wonderful person and a beautiful woman) should consume NO MORE THAN 985 calories per day!

And a few more IMPORTANT rules:

  • Never eat before bedtime!
  • Strictly observe the power MODE!
  • Better eat more often, but in SMALL portions!

They don’t take such astronauts!

Physical exercise

To reduce the level of triglycerides in the blood - it does not necessarily become a "seasoned" athlete! Not only that, it’s even forbidden to immediately establish a “hard” mode of physical activity for yourself. You need to start with little / no fanaticism, given your age and state of health. For example, with a “sedentary” profession and sedentary leisure (after work), include in your “schedule”: the simplest MORNING CHARGE (no more than 5-10 minutes) and EVENING WALK (for 20-30 minutes).

And only then, building up a minute a day, try to reach a normal level: 45 minutes of full-fledged physical exercises (at least 3-4 times a week) and 3/5-km walks - every day! With regard to the first paragraph, here you MANDATORY need to consult with doctors! Regarding what you can and cannot categorically do. With regards to the second point - it is useful for virtually all people (regardless of gender and age). Just try not to replace walks in the fresh air - "walking" on a treadmill in stuffy rooms!

On the Internet, you can easily find morning exercises for your age and health. The body will tell you: HUGE thanks!

Moderate physical activity can not only reduce the amount of triglycerides in the blood, but also conditionally “bad” LDL cholesterol (the “culprit” of atherosclerosis and many cardiovascular diseases), but also increase good HDL cholesterol. The increased performance of which, foreign scientists called - "LONGEVITY SYNDROME"!

Lowering triglycerides and a new diet!

In order to reduce high triglycerides in the blood, it is extremely important to clean up your diet. What does it look like in practice? First of all, you will definitely have to develop your own culinary abilities, as you will have to refuse some “purchased” food products - temporarily, and others - forever! And also add new dishes that are very useful for the body, but "NOT profitable" for mass sales. So what can and can not be eaten with elevated triglycerides? Which food should be added to your diet and which should be excluded? And start with the last one.

We exclude refined sugar!

In order to lower triglycerides in the blood, first of all, give up “sweets”. Especially the “storefront” ones, which include an impressive amount of ingredients, aimed not at human health, but at increasing shelf life. And that means - and the period of sales. Despite the fact that sugar, as one of the main components for making sweets, tastes very good - it is one of the representatives of “toxic food”.

Especially refined sugar, i.e. industrially / processed, having in its structure as many as 5 carbohydrate atoms. “Due to” this circumstance, together with such “wrong” sugar (absolutely devoid of minerals, vitamins, and other useful substances), many “empty” calories enter our body, which are converted into excess triglycerides. Quickly accumulated, and with difficulty removed from the body.

Thus, if you have a high level of triglycerides (in order to reduce it - quickly and efficiently) say “sweets”: solid NO! And on the next trip to the store, pay special attention to all products that have ingredients (OZA) in the composition (on the labels). This is sucrose (the above / mentioned “masked” refined sugar), as well as fructose (natural / natural / “right” sugar), lactose, maltose and dextrose.

After lowering triglycerides to adequate values, your daily intake of “right” sugars (it is better to refuse “wrong” forever) should not exceed 5-10% of the total calories. That is, approximately no more than 100 kcal in sweets for women and 150 kcal for men. Not more than 100-150 gr. (per day) mangoes, grapes, blackberries, bananas, pineapples, ripe watermelons and pears. Recommended gifts of nature (for people with “problematic” triglycerides) are tomatoes, citrus fruits, strawberries, avocados, melon and apricots.

What are triglycerides?

An increase in triglycerides is always accompanied by high cholesterol, therefore, methods of dealing with these two problems are similar.

These violations smoothly appear due to a violation of carbohydrate metabolism, as well as due to:

  1. Obesity
  2. Hypertension
  3. Strokes and heart attacks,
  4. Coronary heart disease,
  5. Diabetes mellitus,
  6. Atherosclerosis.

Triglycerides are unique fat-soluble components found in the blood. They are contained in every living cell of the body, which is why they are necessary! They need to be reduced only on the initiative of a doctor if their level exceeds the norm. These compounds enter human blood from food or form in the liver from simple carbohydrates. Then they, of course, turn into fats.

Reduce the amount of carbohydrates!

To lower triglycerides (in the direction of the norm), it is necessary to reduce the consumption of foods with a high content of carbohydrates (especially refined). Their most prominent representatives are bakery products baked from premium white flour (i.e., beloved white bread). Although, sometimes, even white rice or semolina can also increase the level of TG in the blood (or negatively affect their normalized amount). Be sure to consult your doctors!

What to do right? First of all, replace white bread with gray (from rye flour / wholemeal) if you have no problems with high acidity. If they are, then eat pasta! Further, reducing (or eliminating) "carbohydrate" food - increase or completely replace it with "PROTEIN" products! Possessing a lower glycemic index, which means - slower than digestible, absorbed and "metabolized" by our body! This contributes to a minimal and slower increase in lipid levels (including triglycerides) and blood sugar. PLEASE ON PROTEINS!

Ways to help lower blood triglycerides

The risk of developing many diseases is directly related to the level of triglycerides in the blood, so you need to know ways to help lower it.

Method 1: Watch Overweight

If your weight is constantly growing, then, unfortunately, the amount of triglycerides follows it, since these concepts are related. Watch carefully for weight, it must be controlled (sometimes the help of nutritionists and endocrinologists is required).

Thus, we can conclude that triglycerides are a kind of source of energy for the body. This substance (like cholesterol) is able to clog arteries, if there is a lot of it. There is also a risk of stroke and heart attack!

Method 2. Do not eat foods that increase triglycerides in the blood

If you are a sweet tooth or a foodie who loves fatty foods that contain a huge amount of harmful connections, then I hasten to upset you that you will have to refuse all this. Do not replenish the level of triglycerides, if it is already elevated, you only make it worse! You must burn more calories than you consume. Otherwise, they can accumulate in the vessels.

To avoid unpleasant consequences (for example, dangerous blood clots that may come off), do not eat foods that are high in saturated fats.

Method 3. Give up sugar completely

If you consider disastrous products for people who desire reduce the level of triglycerides, then in the first place you can safely put sugar and everything that contains it. You should not eat simple sugars, which are found in large quantities in carbonated drinks, chocolate and other unhealthy sweets.

Yes, the rejection of such foods is a rather difficult decision, but you don’t want to die because of diseases of the cardiovascular system ?!

Method 4. Watch for hidden sugar

Any foodstuff that you can find in stores has a label, it must be carefully studied before you take this product.

The fact is that there are many additives whose names end in "oz." This is all sugar! Also, do not take products that indicate corn syrup, cane syrup, malt sugar or brown sugar.

Method 5. Eat a lot of fiber

Replace everything that is made from premium or second grade flour with foods containing whole grain flour. This will allow you to get less carbohydrates and more fiber, which is very beneficial for the body. This compound will also help reduce triglycerides, and this is our goal. Fiber is also found in vegetable salads and in porridge.

Method 6. Include healthy fats in your diet

Not all fats harm our body, there is a certain group of healthy fats that do not affect the state of blood vessels.

  • Walnuts,
  • Avocado,
  • Olive oil,
  • Chicken (do not forget to peel)
  • Linseed oil,
  • Rapeseed oil.

And unhealthy fats are called “trans fats,” they are found in many unhealthy foods, such as chips and french fries. Saturated fats are also harmful (ice cream, pastries).

Method 7. Eat Fish

Fish is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which are necessary for the full functioning of the whole body. They are beneficial for the cardiovascular system, and these compounds also help reduce triglycerides. Sea fish should replace your usual steaks and patties!

Method 8. Forget about alcohol

If you love to drink beer with friends or relax with a glass of wine, then, unfortunately, you have to abandon this lifestyle. Triglycerides in many situations increase precisely because of alcoholic beverages, which destroy the whole body. In fact, they can be replaced, for example, with tea (this is the best and most harmless option).

There are many different flavors of tea with which you can experiment and choose something for yourself.

Method 9. Refuse soda and purchased juices

Also, fructose, which is added to such drinks, strongly influences the level of triglycerides, therefore, abandoning them, you will already take a big step towards the goal.

Method 10. Refuse a sedentary lifestyle

Your main task is closely related to losing weight, as the level of triglycerides is highly dependent on excess weight. Start exercising regularly. If possible, give up sedentary work. Займитесь каким-нибудь активным отдыхом, например, выбирайтесь на велопрогулки.

Учёные доказали, что физические нагрузки благоприятно влияют и на весь организм. Nobody requires you to show high results, do it for yourself! Visit the pool or fitness room, everyone has different interests! You can also go walking, gradually increasing the distance, and after a few months of such training, you can go on a run!

We take fats for strict control!

The next step for quickly and effectively lowering triglycerides is to control the “names” and the amount of fat you eat daily. It would seem, "fat - it is also fat in Africa." But no! Again, in the pursuit of profits, some companies use trans fats to manufacture their products (margarine, spreads, hydrogenated vegetable oils, etc.). Thanks to which, the goods can be stored for a long time, and not lose their shape and tastes even at a temperature difference (which is very important for long-distance transportation of products to points of sale).

In addition, margarine or sandwich spreads are much cheaper than natural butter. And to taste - almost the same. What has been satisfying for a couple of decades - both manufacturers and consumers. So far, scientists have not found out that these ingredients (i.e. hydrogenated fats and oils) - and in pure form (on a sandwich), as well as in the composition of all your favorite fast foods or donuts - literally kill the body. Not only record-high levels of “bad” cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, but also increasing the risks of a number of oncological diseases.

That is why, completely abandon all foods containing trans fats, without returning to them even when your lipid levels (fats) are fully normalized. However, never align absolutely all fats “under one comb”. Since some of the bottom is very important for our health. They are called: MONO- or POL- Unsaturated fats. The first concerns - olive oil! The most popular examples of others are sunflower oil, linseed oil, fish oil and walnut oil.

Separately, it is worth highlighting fish oil rich in OMEGA-3 fatty acids. At its core, these are “good” fats, which are capable of knocking out “bad” fats like “wedge-wedge” from our organisms. Thus, if you eat meals of oily fish (salmon, sardines, mackerel or tuna-alcabor) 2 times a week, you will very quickly notice how quickly your triglyceride level has decreased. Very good results are noticeable after some 10-12 weeks. If you are allergic to fish, then an alternative on the menu is salads of mixed greens (in particular leafy vegetables) with the addition of linseed oil and chopped walnuts. The latter ones also contain PUFAs, i.e. polyunsaturated OMEGA 3 fatty acids.

Fatty fish, walnuts, flax seeds and avocados - not only reduce triglycerides, but also lower the risks of breast cancer (in women).

Add more fiber to your diet.

ALWAYS include in your menu foods that contain (in large quantities) fiber. Those. coarse water-soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. With regards to the latter, due to their ability to perfectly absorb liquids, they turn into a kind of gel / shaped mass, which not only cleanses the intestines from toxins, but also “sculpts” fats on itself. Thus, reducing the amount of "excess" lipids (including triglycerides) in our body.

In addition, fiber normalizes intestinal function (minimizing putrefactive processes, thereby saving us from cancer), and also acts as a “regulator” of blood sugar and cholesterol levels. With regards to the latter advantage, water-soluble dietary fiber is responsible for this. The best option: use both. Daily fiber for men and women: 35-50 gr. Just drink plenty of water!

Champions in fiber are wheat bran (43 g / 100 g of product). Next are: dried apricots (18 g / 100 g), dried apples (14.9 g / 100 g), raisins (9.6 g / 100 g), gray bread (8 g / 100 g), nuts (4.0 g / 100 g). Other recommended foods (to reduce excess triglycerides) are beans, cabbage, carrots, beets, tomatoes, peas, apricots, boiled pasta, greens (dill, parsley, salad). And also buckwheat, oatmeal and pearl barley porridge - DAILY! Another significant advantage of fiber is that it provides a feeling of fullness. And this is important when you have to heroically abandon some bakery products.

What about meat ?!

To normalize a high level of triglycerides, completely abandon meat offal (i.e., internal organs of animals and birds), except for beef liver (up to 80 grams per week). And temporarily replace the "red" meat with "white" / bird / EXCEPT duck and goose (only necessary - without skin). If the situation improves (as agreed with the doctors), add ONLY lean beef, veal or lamb meat to your diet. Naturally, you will have to forget about pork, fat, bacon, salt, smoked sausages and other (supposedly) "delights" of life for a very long time! And this is for the better!

Triglycerides and FIBERS

Fibrates (or "derivatives", ie derivatives of fibroic acid) is a separate class of drugs designed specifically to lower the level of triglycerides in the blood. According to recent research conducted by the National Institutes of Health (US Institute of Health, USA), fibrates lower triglycerides by 35-50% in patients with a condition such as hypertriglyceridemia. As well as familial (hereditary) or diabetic dyslipidemia.

The most effective drugs are: Gemfibrozil and Fenofibrat. Which - not only reduce the content of triglycerides (as well as LDL / LDL cholesterol by 10-15%), but also increase the level of beneficial HDL (HDL cholesterol) cholesterol by 10-20%. The mechanism of action of fibrates is mainly aimed at reducing the amount of VLDLP produced in the liver (that is, very low density lipoproteins), which just “transport” triacylglycerides (TAGs) to the cells (along the blood lines of the circulatory system).

The most common side effects of treatment with fibrates are digestive and liver problems. Less commonly - the formation of gallstones and the development of myopathy (neuromuscular disease) with joint treatment with statin drugs. Not recommended by doctors for concomitant use with groups of blood thinners. And finally, most of all, European doctors do not like Clofibrate, due to the increased risks of developing cancer, gallstone / stone diseases and pancreatitis.

Triglycerides and fish oil (OMEGA - 3)

Fish oil contains a large amount of long / chain, poly / unsaturated omega 3 fatty acids. In particular, eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA), significantly delaying the synthesis of triglycerides in the liver (while inhibiting esterification, and other fatty acids). That is why, fish oil (to a greater extent, salmon / OMEGA 3) or the drug “Maxepa” (similar in composition to the first remedy) are actively used by doctors to effectively reduce the level of triglycerides in the patient’s blood. In the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia (as well as hyperlipoproteinemia from II b to V phenotypes).

However, normally lowering the number of VLDL (very low density lipoproteins) and chylomicrons (ChM), OMEGA-3 fatty acids do not actually affect the levels of LDL (low density lipoproteins / conditionally “bad” cholesterol / LDL cholesterol) and HDL (high density lipoproteins) / "Good" cholesterol / HDL cholesterol). That is, they do not reduce normally - the first, and do not increase - the second.

In 1985, the results of studies on the treatment of 20 patients with hypertriglyceridemia with the active use of special diet / therapy were published. In which 20-30% of the calorie intake was provided by either salmon fat or Maxepa. One half of patients suffered from type IIb hyperlipoproteinemia, the other - type V. Ultimately, the levels of total cholesterol (cholesterol) and triglycerides (TG) in the first 10 patients (type IIb patients) decreased by 27 and 64%, and in the second (type V patients) decreased by 45 and 79%. It is definitely worth noting that the above / indicated diet turned out to be an order of magnitude more effective than the diet / low fat and the diet with a modified ratio of fats.

Never engage in SELF / TREATMENT! Since, in principle, harmless capsules of OMEGA-3 fatty acids in large quantities (or when closely interacting with other drugs) can seriously damage health. Especially for people suffering from: poor blood coagulation, low blood pressure (hypotension), diabetes mellitus, some liver dysfunctions, as well as certain types of acute mental disorders. Prescribe any medications - ONLY qualified doctors can!

Triglycerides and Niacin

A nicotinic acid (Niacin / Vitamin PP), being an organic carboxylic acid, as well as the above / described FIBRATES, is a highly / effective drug for lowering plasma triglycerides. Thanks to a similar mechanism of action, i.e. inhibition of the synthesis of LDLP - "transporters" that carry triacylglycerides along the blood "highways" to the cells.

In addition, niacin is capable of quickly normalizing the lipid composition of the blood: lowering the overall level of cholesterol, decreasing the amount of LDL (bad cholesterol) and, conversely, perfectly increasing the levels of HDL (beneficial cholesterol). Unlike OMEGA-3 fatty acids (rarely, but sometimes suppressing the psyche), Niacin is not contraindicated in some acute mental disorders (for example, in a state of deep depression).

Despite the many benefits of nicotinic acid (niacin / vitamin PP), never take this medicine on your own! Those. without consulting with treating specialists (qualified doctors)! When interacting with certain medications, niacin can cause dangerous side effects. These can be (in simple words): sensations of “dips in the void”, “lack of air”, yellowing of the skin, swelling (lips and tongue), muscle pain (cramps of the extremities), rapid (or uneven) heartbeat and insomnia.

STATINS and triglycerides

Statins - This is a group of drugs, to a greater extent, "aimed" at lowering LDL cholesterol in the blood. Due to the (reversible) inhibition (i.e., slowing down) of the activity of the key enzyme of LDL cholesterol biosynthesis (in the human liver) - HMG-CoA reductase. The most popular drugs are "Rozuvastatin», «Atorvastatin"And"Simvastatin". Other commonly used drugs from this group are Pravastatin, Fluvastatin, Pitavastatin, and Lovastatin. As already mentioned above, the main goal of statins is to reduce the amount of conditionally “bad” LDL cholesterol in the blood, and they are almost ineffective for lowering triglycerides. At least compared to other drugs mentioned above.

ATTENTION: Before lowering the level of triglycerides in the blood with the above / indicated methods (changing lifestyle or diet, and even more so with medicines) - ALWAYS consult your DOCTORS! Do not risk your precious health!

What are triglyceride molecules and their purpose in the body?

An increased concentration of triglycerides is always accompanied by an increase in the cholesterol index in the blood, so treatment methods to lower triglycerides are similar to therapy to lower cholesterol.

This increase is due to impaired lipid metabolism.

Triglyceride molecules are fat-soluble components that are found in blood plasma.

Like cholesterol molecules, they are in every cell membrane, and without them the body will not be able to function.

Triglycerides are found in lipoproteins of very low molecular density (VLDL) and deliver cholesterol to cell membranes as part of these molecules.

Triglycerides are produced by liver cells during carbohydrate metabolism, and are also supplied externally with foods in cholesterol molecules.

The structure of triglycerides

Triglycerides Increased Causes

The etiology of an increase in triglycerides in the blood may be quite different, but one of the main reasons for the increase in these molecules is the high blood composition of low molecular weight lipids.

There are regulatory indicators of triglycerides that are allowed in the body. The values depend on the age of the patient, as well as gender.

Triglycerides are considered elevated if their concentration is above these indicators:

Table of permissible concentration of triglycerides in the blood

Factors that can increase triglyceride molecules in the blood are:

  • Failure of the endocrine organ of the thyroid gland,
  • Impaired renal function
  • The inflammatory process in the pancreas, which has a chronic form of pancreatitis,
  • A malfunction in the endocrine system that caused diabetes mellitus,
  • Obesity from unhealthy and too high-calorie diets,
  • Lack of exercise,
  • Anorexia disease,
  • Chronic alcoholism and nicotine addiction,
  • Pathology of hereditary etiology.

Quite often, a high triglyceride index, with normal or low cholesterol, may be a sign of the development of type 2 diabetes.

Obesity from unhealthy and too high-calorie diets

Excessive triglycerides in men

A feature of the male body is the concentration of lipoproteins in the blood. These indicators are slightly higher than in women, which affects the decoding of the lipid spectrum. Also, triglyceride indices are higher than in the female body.

Most often, an increase in the composition of blood of very low molecular density lipoproteins containing triglycerides occurs due to the love of men for fatty foods, especially meat and their fascination with alcohol.

Without a cholesterol diet, it can effectively lower the concentration of VLDL in the blood.

Those men who are keen on pumping up muscles use steroidal supplements, which is also dangerous with a jump of very low and low density lipoproteins.

To reduce their index, it is necessary to refuse to receive these supplements.

Steroidal Supplements Hazardous in Leap of Very Low and Low Density Lipoproteins

Triglyceride Index Increased in Women

In the female body, an increase in the triglyceride index is quite often caused by the use of medications that contain hormones. During menopause and menopause, women are often prescribed hormone therapy, which can lead to such results.

Lowering may occur after the abolition of hormonal medications.

Also, triglycerides increase during the period of gestation.

Such an increase is not critical and you should not try to reduce triglycerides, because these are the consequences of the restructuring of the body for the full formation of the baby.

The only thing that can be done during this period is to adjust the diet so that there is no strong jump in cholesterol in the blood.

If the TGs become very high, then the attending physician may prescribe therapy to reduce them to the maximum allowable levels.

The attending doctor may prescribe therapy

Causes of increased triglycerides in a child

An increase in TG in a child occurs for the same reasons as in an adult. Quite often, children lead a sedentary lifestyle, sitting in front of a computer monitor, as well as the bulk of children are accustomed to snacking on fast foods, which include trans fats and high calorie content.

These two reasons lead to the fact that most children have extra pounds, and some are obese in the second and third degree. Changing the VLDL and TG index will help change nutrition and exercise.

Also, the following genetic pathologies can be risk factors in the child:

  • Inherited genetic hyperlipidemia, when lipid metabolism in the body is disturbed due to a mutated gene,
  • Down syndrome is also associated with a genetic disorder. The disease is incurable.

If the concentration of TG in the blood depends on the development of genetic pathology, then the decrease depends on the use of cholesterol therapy with lowering drugs.

TG reduction methods

To reduce the concentration of TG in the blood, it is necessary to establish factors provocative of their increase. If disorders in the body occurred due to improper nutrition, then a diet with elevated triglycerides and physical activity on the body, or exercise, will help reduce TG.

If the cause is a pathology in the body, then treatment can only be with medication.

Alternative medicine methods can also be used as an additional treatment.

Medication Triglyceride Reduction

As a drug therapy, drugs are prescribed to lower cholesterol and triglycerides:

  • Statin medicines reduce the index of low molecular weight and very low molecular weight lipids, and increase the rate of high density lipoproteins,
  • TG-reducing drugs of the fibrate group
This group of drugs works in the body in the same way as fibrates, but it also has the ability to increase the synthesis of high molecular weight cholesterol, which cleans the bloodstream from free cholesterol,
  • Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Acids effectively reduce cholesterol and TG, but do not treat the cause of the deviation in lipid metabolism. These tablets are available for sale and this is the only drug that you can use on your own, without a doctor's prescription. It is only necessary to strictly adhere to the instructions for use.

Do not forget that if the concentration of triglycerides is increased, you can not treat this pathology yourself with drugs.

All cholesterol-lowering drugs have a large number of side effects on the body, which can do it more harm than good.

All appointments for drug therapy are made by the attending doctor.

Folk remedies for lowering TG

Medicinal plants can be used to reduce TG only if the increase in cholesterol and TG is not caused by serious pathologies in the body.

With diseases of the endocrine system, it is not possible to lower the triglyceride index with folk remedies, this therapy can be an addition to medical treatment.

Traditional medicine recipes to lower a high TG index:

  • One spoon (teaspoon) before eating oil from the sea buckthorn plant will help reduce the concentration of TG,
  • 2 times a day to drink 100.0 milliliters of beet juice,
  • A decoction based on medicinal herbs St. John's wort grass (25.0 g), yarrow grass (20.0 g) and mountain arnica (5.0 g). Pour the collection of 200.0 ml of boiling water and let stand for 60 minutes. Drink this drink in one day. Take this decoction for 30 days.

Parsley decoction

Prevention and non-drug therapy
