How to make mojito at home

Attention:This article is intended for persons over 18 years of age.

Shisho in Japanese herbology is also called perilla or beefsteak plant. It combines the spiciness of basil with hints of caraway seeds. Use it with a plant instead of regular peppermint. Shisho mojito green tea and Japanese yuzu mojito are good examples of using shiso.

Method 1 Shisho Mojito Green Tea

Combining green tea and shiso, this mojito is perfect as a drink for late spring. Serve in a Collins glass.

  1. 1 Crush shiso, sugar and lime juice in a Collins glass with a madler pestle or the back of a spoon. Leaves should not be squeezed heavily, but you should be able to smell shiso.
  2. 2 Fill the glass 2/3 with ice.
  3. 3 Add green tea and rum.
  4. 4 Garnish the drink with a slice of lime or a shiso leaf, or both.

Method 2 Shisho Yuzu Mojito

Shiso and peel yuzo can be bought in Asian stores. Yuzo is an Asian citrus fruit that tastes like grapefruit lime, which goes well with the shiso basil flavor. Citrus vodka in this recipe replaces rum.

  1. 1 Tear 4 shiso leaves into large pieces, leaving one sheet for decoration.
  2. 2 Crush brown sugar, shiso leaves, and yuzu zest in an Old Fashioned glass.
  3. 3 Add vodka, lime juice and a few ice cubes. Stir the drink with a spoon.
  4. 4 Add soda to the drink and add more ice if necessary.
  5. 5 Garnish with the remaining shiso leaf.

3. To the top fill a glass with ice cubes.

4. Add 30 ml of rum.

5. Fill the remaining space in the glass with soda (sprite).

6. Serve with the straw.

Non-alcoholic Mojito Recipe

This drink can be enjoyed even by children, as it does not contain alcohol. The recipe itself is slightly different from the classic version, just rum is not added. The authors of the following video tell how to make non-alcoholic mojito, for example, strawberry and lemon.
